Ms. Lena Afanaseva received her MA degree in Piano Pedagogy from Kharkov Music College in Ukraine. After graduation she started her teaching career in Ukraine where she worked as a piano instructor in music schools before starting a private piano studio. She moved to the United States in 1993 and has taught piano in music schools as well as privately since.

Ms. Lena's diverse multicultural musical background and experience allow her to provide rich and well-rounded education for her students of various backgrounds and skill levels.
She is renowned for her efficient teaching methods and professionalism. Her students usually show quick progress and enjoy performance opportunities.

Ms. Lena Afanaseva is an active member of American College of Musicians - National Guild of Piano Teachers, Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association, and Music Teachers National Association.
Ms. Lena's husband, Andrei, is a physics professor in The George Washington University. They have two children, Darya, MS in Public Health from GWU, who lives in Colorado with her husband; and Dennis, formerly an All-American with GWU tennis team, who is currently a software engineer with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center
